Africa Hope Development Foundation

Volunteer

Bring your time and skills to work that matters.

AHDF welcomes volunteers across all eight of our project areas — locally in the Zambezi Region, or remotely from wherever you are. Most roles need no medical or construction background at all.

Ways to Help

Roles that don't need a medical or construction background

Reliability and a willingness to learn matter more than a specific qualification. Here's where volunteers make the most difference.

Administration & Coordination

Data entry, scheduling, and helping run a distribution day for one of our relief programmes.

Fundraising & Grant Writing

Draft proposals, research funders, and write donor updates that keep our programmes financed.

Communications

Social media, photography, translation, and newsletter writing to tell AHDF's story well.

Business & Entrepreneurship Mentoring

Help first-time entrepreneurs with basic planning, following on from events like our Business Empowerment Seminar.

Event Support

The logistics behind events like our Entrepreneurship Breakfast Meeting with the Office of the Governor, Zambezi Region.

Teaching & Literacy Support

No teaching qualification required — just patience, preparation, and a willingness to show up.

Before You Apply

Two things worth knowing first

Visa rules for in-person placements: a Namibian tourist visa does not cover volunteer work of any kind. Under Section 27 of the Immigration Control Act, volunteers need the appropriate employment permit or visa before starting, regardless of how short the placement is. Contact us and we'll talk you through what a placement with AHDF would actually require.
Responsible volunteering around children: AHDF does not place untrained, short-term volunteers in unsupervised, direct child-care roles within our Orphanage & Child Care programme. If your background is in admin, fundraising, communications, or mentoring, there's almost always a way to help that doesn't involve rotating through a children's home for a week or two.

How It Works

From interest form to your first placement

1

Fill out the interest form

Tell us your area of interest, availability, and whether you're looking to help locally or remotely.

2

We follow up personally

A member of the AHDF team will reach out by phone, WhatsApp, or email — usually within a few days.

3

We match you to a real need

No filler tasks — we'll place you where your specific skills and availability are actually useful.

4

You get started

Locally in the Zambezi Region, or remotely — whichever fits the role and your circumstances.
